Kenneth James “Ken” Vise

Kenneth James “Ken” Vise, 74, of Springtown, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on August 2, 2026, from natural causes.

Ken was born on November 7, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Harold and Imogene Vise. He was raised in Fort Worth, where he attended Polytechnic High School before continuing his education at Tarrant County Junior College (TCJC).

A man dedicated to service, Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he devoted his life to protecting and serving his community through a distinguished career in the fire service. He retired as Battalion Chief with the North Richland Hills Fire Department, shared his knowledge by teaching firefighter training courses at Tarrant County Junior College, and later served as Chief of the Salt Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his career, he mentored countless firefighters and inspired many through his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

While Ken’s professional accomplishments were many, his greatest pride and joy was his family. Family always came first, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved. Whether attending family gatherings, sharing stories, or simply playing with his grandchildren, Ken found his greatest happiness surrounded by those closest to him.

Those who knew Ken will remember him as a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His kindness was evident in the simple acts of courtesy that defined his character—from holding doors open and pulling out chairs to always offering a helping hand. His compassion, generosity, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Marilyn Purdy Vise; his children, Kevin (CeCe), Teresa (Jim), Jason (Ginger), Michael, Heather, Rhonda (Rob), Sharolyn (Jerry), Keith (Rhonda), and Linda; his sisters, Lynda and Carolyn; his brother, Terry; and 33 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susie Vise, and his parents, Harold and Imogene Vise.

A memorial service celebrating Ken’s life will be held at a later date at Trinity Fellowship Church in Decatur. Service details will be announced by the family when finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Salt Creek Volunteer Fire Department, honoring Ken’s lifelong dedication to serving his community and supporting his fellow firefighters.

Ken’s legacy of service, kindness, and unconditional love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.
