Amy Lynn Schafer

Amy Lynn Schafer, lovingly known as “Rexy” by her cherished grandchildren, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, at Serenity Estates in Mineral Wells, Texas, at the age of 55, after a courageous battle with Lynch Syndrome.

Amy was born on January 23, 1971, in Wichita, Kansas, to Larry “Lew” David Schafer and Dana Carol Schafer. She grew up alongside her brother, Patrick Schafer, and graduated with the Lebanon High School Class of 1990.

Amy dedicated much of her career to serving others. She worked alongside her father and brother as a manager in the convenience store industry before beginning a rewarding career with Texas Health, where she served as a Lead Cash Poster. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Her greatest passions were serving those less fortunate, especially the homeless, traveling—particularly to the beach—painting, and crafting. Amy found joy in giving to others and faithfully supported organizations such as The Taste Project and The Net. Above all, she was a devoted Christ follower whose faith guided her throughout her life.

Amy had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that could brighten any room. Those who knew her will forever smile when remembering one of her favorite quirks—she absolutely refused to let anyone say the word “butt.” Instead, everyone had to say “peaches.” It became one of the many unique things that made Amy so unforgettable.

Amy is survived by her loving father, Larry “Lew” David Schafer; her brother, Patrick Schafer; her daughters, Sharon Binford and her husband, John David, and Jessica Shockley and her husband, Jeffery Ucan-Rodas; her beloved grandchildren, Rylee Binford, Lincoln Binford, and Madilyn Binford; and her faithful fur baby, Roxy Foxy Cleopatra, who brought her endless companionship and joy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dana Carol Schafer; her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Eva Grace Schafer; and her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Esther Day.

A Celebration of Life honoring Amy’s life will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to The Taste Project of Fort Worth or to your local homeless ministry in Amy’s memory. Her generous heart and compassion for those in need were among the qualities that defined her life.

Amy’s legacy of kindness, unwavering faith, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
